Why is 2023 the year to become a creator?
Drop what you’re doing today and join the bandwagon of creators.
The creator Economy is The Economy
In the early 2000s, the economy for online creators was just in its infancy. Facebook established in 2004, allowed its users to create and post content online. The only incentives are speedy communication and a wide reach. It allowed users to send messages and images to people at far distances. Twitter founded in 2006 enabled the sharing of ideas and opinions over >200 text characters.
Fast-forward to 2022 and these platforms have grown to give their users more leverage over the content they create on their platforms. Users can amass more significant amounts of followers, learn from successful creators and leverage each platform to grow their sales.
2023 is the best year to become a creator because there has never been more information available about being successful in the creator economy than now. There are not just more tools, but more importantly, more opportunities to fail and learn from failure.
What potential does the creator economy have?
According to a report conducted by Hubspot in 2022. It was discovered that “found that 88% of brands have a dedicated budget for working with influencers and creators.” This means that there is an opportunity for a creator occupying every niche to collaborate with top brands.
Linktree estimates the population of individuals in the creator economy to be about 200m, while Adobe estimates the figure to be about 165m+ individuals despite the calculations’ variation, the fact is these barriers to entry into the creator economy have dropped significantly.
The creator economy has the potential to impact the lives of hundreds of millions of people, giving them a chance to earn both a voice and a living on the internet.
Ignore the noise
Noise vs Signal is the greatest war in any emerging market. For instance, the crypto boom which eventually led to a bust was filled with significant noise and speculations about the actualities of its economics. But the reality was far from what was marketed for a long while.
Pay attention to what works. It may not be pretty, it may not be the shiny new thing, but if you stick to it for a while you will definitely see results.
Burn the midnight candle
Our previous article on how Mr. Beast scaled his youtube following in such a short time, emphasized this small fact. It would be best if you aimed to outwork your competition whenever possible. Always do one more. One more post, one more rep, one more set, etc.
Have a clear strategy and Execute flawlessly
Clarity beats brain fog. Even when you have the best strategy, if you are not clear on its implementation you will not be able to weather the storms and obstacles you might meet on the way. A content calendar and a working team will help in the development and execution of your strategy. Always remember to re-visit your strategy to ensure that you are heading in the right direction.
